Out of the Box

A book written and illustrated by Danielle Goergen that is meant to act as a guide and starting point to all things gardening and homesteading.

This ambitious pop-up book is a fun read for both adults and children.

I hope to publish it in the near future.

Mock-Up

Mockup of the book cover.  The textured illustrations reflect the beauty of working with your hands, feeling and experiencing the world through touch.  It aims to spark readers' interest in gardening and working outside.

Pop-Up spread

A mock-up demonstrating the pop-ups on one of the spreads.

"Out of the Box" is a tactile book that is meant to be felt, opened, folded and used.

Detail

A detail from the "Apple picking" page that explains to children that bruised apples and, more generally, ugly fruit is still okay to be eaten and should not be wasted.

Bio-diversity

In "Out of the Box", children learn about bees and their importance to the world.  Fun facts and warm illustrations aim to eliminate any fear that children might have of bees and instead help them see the busy workers for the wonderful creatures that they are.  Perhaps, it might inspire someone to become a beekeeper.
